Collection: Poitín
The Exile Poitín — 500ml | 50% ABV
Award-winning Irish-inspired poitín, handcrafted in NSW.
Named one of THE AUSTRALIAN’s Top 10 Spirits of 2025 (95 Points), The Exile Poitín is a bold yet remarkably smooth spirit inspired by the wild nights, music, stories and traditions shared between Ireland and Australia.
Handcrafted from locally grown NSW barley and oats, our poitín is brewed on-site using a mashbill created exclusively for The Exile, then slowly triple-distilled in handmade copper pot stills. Only the smallest and purest heart cut is selected before being blended with harvested rainwater to 50% ABV — creating a rich, silky spirit with exceptional character and warmth.
The result is a smooth, complex dram with notes of fresh grain sweetness, soft spice and a clean finish. Enjoy it neat, over ice, or as a unique substitute in your favourite whiskey cocktails.
What is Poitín?
Pronounced “pot-cheen”, poitín is Ireland’s original spirit — the ancient ancestor of whiskey itself. First distilled by Irish monks in the 6th century as uisce beatha (“water of life”), poitín became legendary for fuelling great nights, rebellious stories and Irish folklore for centuries.
The Exile also pays tribute to the Shoalhaven region’s own history of illicit spirit-making — honouring a tradition of craftsmanship, independence and good times shared.
