What is Poitín?

Often called the ancestor of whiskey and all distilled spirits, Poitín dates back to 6th-century Ireland, where Irish monks first distilled “uisce beatha” (“water of life”). Traditionally crafted in small copper pot stills, Poitín became legendary in Irish folklore, music, and storytelling.

Today, The Exile continues that rebellious spirit — handcrafted right here in Australia.

Handcrafted Australian Poitín

Made from locally sourced NSW barley and oats, The Exile uses a custom mash bill developed exclusively for our Australian Poitín. Every batch is milled, brewed, and slowly triple-distilled onsite in handmade copper pot stills to create an exceptionally smooth and complex white spirit.
